Definition
NautilusDesk is our in-house softphone that allows users to make calls with their extension without the need for a physical hard phone. This application supplements our Cloud Telephony solution by giving users the flexibility to make calls untethered, with nothing but their internet connection as a requirement.
Installation
Using your computer, click on the link below to download the NautilusDesk:

- Unzip the file
- Launch the installer.
- Launch the app
Configuration of Extension
First time users need to register their account. The following details will be provided by the Nautilus team:
- Username
- Password
- Domain
Successful login should lead you to this page of the application, and you should see the green icon which indicates successful registration of your extension.
Making outbound calls
NautilusDesk is designed to increase your flexibility with regards to making and receiving calls. Making outbound calls is very easy; all users have to do is to input the number they want to call on the highlighted box below, and pressing the green phone button to initiate the call.
Receiving incoming calls
When an incoming call comes in, NautilusDesk will show three buttons that are available to click:
Green - Answer the call
Blue - Transfer the call to another number
Red - Hang up the call
Creating Contacts
As a softphone, users can use NautilusDesk to save and create contacts on. From the left-hand tab, click the following icons and fill out the fields that pop-up.
Fill out the contact details as needed.
Importing Contacts in bulk
Need to import your existing client list to our softphone? Prepare your entire contacts list in a csv file and upload them directly to NautilusDesk.
Please follow the following format for your csv file. Moreover, make sure to close the file before importing to avoid disruption.
Transferring Calls
In the event that a call needs to be transferred for either escalation, specialized support, or due to caller request, there are two kinds of call transfers that users can do on NautilusDesk.
Blind Transfer - also known as cold transfer, this is when a call is automatically transferred to a user without consultation. The transferring party can do this by pressing the highlighted icon below.
Attended Transfer - also known as Warm Transfer, this is when a consultation is made before initiating the transfer.
- First press the Attended Transfer button highlighted below.
- Input the extension you wish to transfer the call to in the red box and press the green call button to initiate the call. Doing this lets your converse with the receiving agent.
- Upon receiving confirmation from the receiving party, press the Transfer button highlighted below to complete the process.
Muting Calls
In case users need to discuss something without having the caller hear them, they can mute themselves by pressing the icon below.
Placing calls on hold
Sometimes users might need to place a caller on hold while they process something on their end. To do this, press the hold/pause icon below.
Deregistering and registering extensions
For troubleshooting purposes, users might need to deregister and register their extensions. To do this, follow the steps below.
- Go to the settings page by pressing the gear icon on the bottom-left of the app.
- Choose the extension you wish to deregister. Clicking on it allows you to set it as a default account, edit account, and delete said account. Select delete to deregister the extension.
- To register the extension again, simply press the + icon on the Accounts page. Closing the app will lead the user to the login / configuration page.
Uninstalling Nautilus Desk
Follow these steps to uninstall Nautilus Desk from your computers.
1. Prior to uninstalling Nautilus desk, please ensure that the existing extensions are fully disabled.
1.1. Go to Settings, choose Accounts.
1.2. Unselect the active extension

1.3. Right click and press "Delete" to delete the current extension
2. Go to your applications folder on your Mac and find Nautilus Desk
3. Drag the application to the Trash to complete the uninstallation process.
