Introduction
Call forwarding is another common but often overlooked feature of cloud telephony, with benefits that are more than meets the eye. Aside from the obvious notion of forwarding a call to an external number, there are a host of other reasons this feature can benefit a business.
Use Cases for Call Forwarding
For example, call forwarding can be configured in a way that calls are forwarded to an external number in case a user is away from their desk. This ensures seamless communication and avoids caller frustration.
Another great use of this feature is during after office hours and your organization wants to ensure that certain calls are picked up, the phone can be configured to allow call forwarding to specific extensions for emergency assistance.
These are but a few of the wonderful uses of call forwarding.
How to setup call forwarding on your IP Phone
- On your Grandstream IP phone, press the ForwardAll button as shown below.
- Key in your hotline number + the mobile number you want to forward the calls to then press ‘OK’ button as shown below. This will initiate the call transfer accordingly.
- In the event that you want to cancel the transfer, press the “CancelFwd” button assigned for this action. Notice that the icon before the extension number and the ‘ForwardAll’ button was changed to ‘CancelFwd".
- To confirm cancellation of call forwarding, press the ‘CancelFwd’ button twice. The first press will display the call forwarding prefix, and the second press of this button will clear the forwarding number and cancel the action entirely.
